Trip to Las Vegas
Tatenda said let's go to Vegas. I said yeah (I was joking). Next am on a flight to Vegas. Listen, I love traveling, going to unfamiliar places to see what it's like and to get out of my comfort zone or to go to my comfort zone (Zambia that is). So when my friend Tatenda suggested we go to Vegas I said yes without a blink. I thought it was one of those trips you plan with friends that never actually happen. But as you would have it this friend of mine doesn't just blow words in the air she actually means it. I only realized this when she sent me flight details. And I was like oh okay this is actually happening and so I got my head into it. We booked the flights, then the Airbnb.
The flight to was chill. You know the usual check-in and me boarding only to sleep a few minutes later and wake up when few minutes before landing. And boom we were in Vegas on an uber to our home for the next 4 days. Vegas is beautiful. It is very different from Norman Oklahoma as you would or would not imagine. My eyes were fixed on the window looking at the buildings and the trees that gave it an island kinda vibe (I have never been to an island so I might be wrong here). It is beautiful, the architecture is on point, (am probably gonna tell Max and Terry to look at some of these designs). We checked in, settled and refreshed a little before going to Fashion show. Fashion show is actually this big mall with a 1000 shops, lots of designer brands. But before we could see anything we went and grabbed something to eat. We ate nothing all day. Afterward, we walked around the mall, with a few stops here and there looking at clothes and jewelry that my future self will be able to afford. So I hope
When we were done feeding our eyes, we went and took a walk around the city. Capturing that night view. It was a view indeed. The city is vibrant, the people busy. The streets beautiful. This was a Sunday night with a Friday night kinda vibe. People were hanging out, and restaurants packed. Music on the streets, drums here and there, what looked liked dancing queens in flamingo kinda body suits. Do these people even sleep? My mind was busy looking at the dynamic of cities and appreciative of the opportunity to see these dynamics.
We walked until our legs got tired and went back to sleep. Next morning we were up and ready to explore the city. You know that feeling you have when waking up to have class. let me speak for myself ( I almost always never wanna get up). Now I know that I can actually wake up feeling good when I know I have no deadlines and there is a day full of explorations and beautiful views waiting for me. We had breakfast at this beautiful restaurant which we almost didn’t find lol. The food was really good. The view spot on.
We went for yet another walk around the city to have an afternoon experience. We saw some really beautiful places. Then went to the mall again to finally try on some things and get just a little bit of some lol. The night came and we found a chill spot to eat. Actually, wait a minute, my memory also deceived me. This is the day we went to Fremont street at night. Fremont Street is like the Time Square of Vegas. Context: Monday night, vibe Friday night. There was a concert going on. Everyone seemed high on something. People were dancing, singing, and everyone seemed to be in their own world. A whole different world exists, if I was back at school, I would probably have been on my desk struggling with an assignment, and yet at the same time, someone would be in Fremont Street doing all kinds of things. We might be looking for a multiverse but it's actually here. Different worlds on the same planet. Then we started looking for a place to eat. Everything seemed booked and clearly, the people on Fremont Street were not here to eat. We then found this shake and burger place and we went and ordered burgers and milkshakes. We were hungry, very hungry but to our disappointment, this food came and hush it was a little burger with little meat, and my milkshake was terrible, why did I order a banana milkshake anyway. We just carried our frustrated hungry selves and went to sleep.
The next morning we were up again and in the words of Tatenda, “we were outside. “ First stop was brunch, we went to an Italian restaurant and got some pizza. Well, I got pizza, I don't know what Tatenda got because boy that food looked like crust covered in grass, but my friend is more open-minded to food than I am so she actually enjoyed it. Then we went to a botanical garden. For the first time, google maps did the right thing. We didn't get lost. This place was beautiful, it was like a little paradise hidden in the streets of Las Vegas. Then we went to a place called caesars Palace. It was a spontaneous chilling spot that actually turned out to be very beautiful. We found this place called Fountain of the Gods and yoh this place was heavenly. The structures were so majestic. It was so beautiful. Then we found a nice chilling spot at a place called Flamingo and there we had our dinner and lots of beautiful conversations. We went home.
Indeed when you're having a good time, time flies because it was now our last day. Started off with brunch at a very gorgeous-looking restaurant. We were on the other side of town so there were some more things to see. But then the rain came and interrupted the whole plan. But we managed to see the castles and the Egyptian Pharaoh statue after getting lost and GPS redirecting us a couple of times. We went home dressed up for dinner and had our last meal of the trip.
The flight back home though. I am still processing it. All I can say is life is a gift from God. We must treasure it and I am grateful for this gift.
You might be asking, did I gamble lol. What do you think?
But hey there are casinos every step you take. It's like people gamble every day, every time.
Vegas lives up to its expectation. Whatever that might be, depending on who you ask.
It was a great experience and I traveled with the best travel buddy. Best spring break yet.
Vegas has nothing on me. If I left out anything in this blog. Just know that whatever happens in Vegas…………….. lol
If it's your first time here welcome to Space of thoughts, I hope we learn from each other and grow together. For those who have been here before, it's such a pleasure to have you again.
