FEARFUL BUTTERFLY
FEARFUL BUTTERFLY
Aren’t we supposed to fly together with others? She was aware she had a wing but still couldn’t fly. Just at the time of birth, one wing was gone. She did now realize the wing was gone. She thought it was normal to only have one. She never asked about her lost wing, she didn’t even pay much attention to it or recognize the one she had. The wing she had left made her feel safe. This wing was all she had so she depended on it.
After some time, she started spending more time with other butterflies, she didn’t notice that they had two wings. They all sat with her and she thought “we must be the same”. No one talked about wings. No one told her that one wing was missing. So she lived with one wing and was totally happy.
With one wing there was no fear. Nothing tried to threaten her, she was guided. In the sun the wing covered her, when it rained it protected her. In the sun yet it allowed her to feel the warmth and in the rain the sounds of peace and comfort she slept to. The wing even provided shelter for the butterfly.
But one day. The loneliest day of her living. At the most desperate and unfortunate hour.
The second wing flew away from the butterfly. And all of a sudden the butterfly realized she was in danger. Fear took hold of her. She now realized how important that wing was how much the wing gave her without saying a word. Sometimes the butterfly would even think that the wing constrained her but in actual fact, the wing protected her.
One day, other butterflies came to her. Each with two wings, different colors, and sizes. They flew towards her majestically moving from one side to the other. The butterfly lifted her eyes and she saw her friends flying towards her, each with two wings. In that moment the butterfly realized she had always been missing one wing. And now she had non.
Realizing this the butterfly hid from her friends and watched them fly from a distance. She was embarrassed to be among them. She felt alienated. She sat alone thinking about both of her wings. She wondered where and why her first wing left. She cried at the thought of the second wing. “How can l be a butterfly if l don’t have wings?" She asked herself from dusk to dawn
