Pieces of ourselves
Hello beautiful people.I spent my last summer in the beautiful land of mother Zambia or should I say, the best country in the world.
It was the best summer yet.
One of the many things that made it so beautiful and memorable was meeting most of my friends that I hadn't seen for more than two years.
It was such a joy to visit my friends after a long time.
During those visits I realized something that struck me in a good way and I have since reflected on it.
Almost all my friends reminded me of something that I had either said or done.
For instance one of my friends reminded me that in high school I had said that I wanted to form a christian club; essentially I had this idea of building some kind of park where christians would go to sing, dance and have so much fun. And the idea of a club came from the secular clubs that people go to.
Now, I had totally forgotten about this and here was my friend explaining it so well that the part of me that had been inspired to want to do this years ago was awaken.
On a similar occasion, another friend reminded me of the panic attacks that I used to have in high school. I actually laughed so hard when she told me because I had completely forgotten about them.
Just two days ago, my primary school friend created a WhatsApp group for our Primary school class, lol, I know. I couldn't remember most of them, but then one of them described me as "the only girl who was good at English and Science". I didn't even know this myself but here was someone I had met 13 years ago telling me about me.
All three instances showed me that we always leave a part of ourselves with every person we meet.
These pieces of ourselves we may forget and some we may remember. It's also good to know that these pieces of ourselves may not always be positive, some may be disappointing, some even embarrassing but they all remind us who and what was once important to us and about us.
SO, it's good to reconnect with the people we were once connected to, just incase we need to be reminded of what was once important to us. And sometimes just to have a laugh about the good old days.
If its your first time here welcome to Space of thoughts, I hope we learn from each other and grow together. For those who have been here before, its such a pleasure to have you again.
