He LEFT Me

You are the man that brought me up. Under your parenthood, I grew into the woman that I am today. My passions are all connected to what you taught me, directly or indirectly.

I wanted to make you proud in all that I did.

We never had personal conversations not even for a single day but in your silence, I learned a thousand things.

I look around and I see you no more.

I can never comprehend why you left or how you chose to leave the way you did.

My hero, my father, all in one.

I had a dream that one day I would get to talk to you and learn your thoughts.

I hoped that when I was all grown and fully matured, we could laugh at the things I did and how you scolded me.

I hoped that someday we would sit down together and watch soccer or wait for election results late at night. I wanted to see you travel around the world doing the things you enjoyed doing. Maybe watch a live Arsenal match together.

I hoped that you would come for my University graduation.

I hoped to see you smile more often and talk to your family more. I remember you taking me to different family members so that I could know them, now I know the value of family.

I remember how hardworking you were, you knew no weekends.

I admired your passion for soccer, jazz music, and politics.

I admired how you valued family above everything else.

A selfless man who shared humor even with a person that society considered inferior.

I saw your arm wrapped around mine as I walked down my wedding aisle.

Only God knows why he chose to take you the way that he did.

I loved you in life and I love you in death.

Continue to rest in peace Uncle B (the hero of my story)
